About us
The Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences is a basic research institute whose long-term mission is twofold:
To perform research reflecting current trends in theory and applications of computer science with aspirations to co-determine the trends.
To transfer the respective knowledge to society or, more specifically, to scientific community, to students, and to R&D application domains.
Recent events
- The management of the Institute of Informatics of the CAS joins the statement of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, which condemns the act of aggression of the Russian Federation against the territorial integrity and political organization of Ukraine and expresses support for the people of Ukraine. It also supports the press statement of the Karel Čapek Centre on the topic of waging a just war.

The Institute of Computer Science helps in the fight against coronavirus infection.
- Together with other colleagues, we participate in the development of a model of the effects of the spread of coronavirus infection.
- The ethical issues associated with the spread of coronavirus are in articles on the new site The ethics of the epidemic are targeted by experts from Karel Čapek Centre (consisting of scientists from the Institute of Computer Science, Institute of State and Law, Institute of Philosophy and Faculty of Science, Charles University).
